Cool story Don,,,,,,,,,not many 18 year olds that have had a chance for a factory backed race car,,,,,,I also worked for a Rambler dealer, in 67-68, the body man at the dealership was a drag racer, (sorta,,,,ran a 55 chevy shoebox with a big block)at any rate, when I started working there I had a 65 fury III 426/4sp which none of the ramblers could touch, in 68 we started getting some Javelins with 390 4 speeds in, and the little lite weights could get me in the 1/4, however I would pass them about 7-8 car lengths after the 1/4. the first couple times we tried running them, the driver on the Javelin broke off the shifter handle, so we took and old Hurst handle, and welded a plate on it to bolt to the shifter in the javelin, curing that problem shortly after that I traded the Fury in on a new Roadrunner 383/4sp,,,,,,,,,,,that ended the javelins carreer, they could not touch the B-body smile,,,,,,,,,,,,I think that I still have that old shifter handle laying around some where **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers.
