high price

I justr had to get a professional appraisal for my clone although it is a max wedge it is a nascar Rev Bfour barrle set up and not a cross ram . He apprasied it at $27680. I did it myseldf last year and acame i up with 22500. I am more comfortable with that then the new one as i tink it is higher than needs to be . I usually with cars (and houses) find the 5 most recent similar sales and toss out the highest and lowest and average the middle three then adjust for condition. like for instance mine s a drver not a show car. it is not rough but it isnt perfect for sure and has had a lot of use so I used a factor of 1 to 5 callong minea three and came i up with what i thought was a reasonable figure. Howeverthe insurance company didnt like me doing it and although they allowed me last year they insisted ona pro this year. I find the pros just done know these cars well enough to do a fair job. original apraisal the guy wanted to know what year the studebaker was. I told hm it is a Dodge you idiot. Probably didnt help my case !
he put it at 17500 in 2001. Actually that was probably not to bad come to think of it. Anyway I always ignore the two extemes , highest and lowest.because they have a great possiblilty of being unrealistic. Learned that from my days buying houses to fix up when I took a real estate investment course. I think it is reasonable way to come up with realistic pricing.
