For the stock mechanical pump, besides removing the alternator for easier access, you just have to make sure the lever of the pump goes UNDER the fuel pump eccentric on the camshaft. Just tilt the arm down slightly when you insert it and you should be fine. A little permatex ultra orange on the gasket and you'll be good to go. VERY easy job.
