Don what a great story about your Dad and it kind of jogged my memory of a 
story about my Dad. Early in 1961 we went to the Dodge dealer to see about 
trading in his 1958 Coronet on a new 61. Well my Dad took one look at the 
61's and said "My God they didn't know what to do next so they put the fins 
on backwards". He wound up buying a left over 1960 Pioneer. The first thing 
my Dad always did with a new car was to go to the tire store and trade the 
tires in for the next larger size. They'd do that back then if the tires had 
less than 100 miles on them. I tried my best to get my Dad to spring for a 
set of whitewalls but he said he wasn't going to pay "all that extra money" 
for just a "skinny" stripe of white. I believe 61 was the first year they 
stopped using the full wide whitewalls that went all the way to the rim. Btw 
I think "all that extra money" was about $15 for the 4 tires. But  back then 
$15 was about 5 tanks of gas. I wound up buying that 60 Dodge from my Dad in 
1964 and the first thing I did was put a set of Porta-walls on it, remember 
those?
