I know a lot of "old timers" that haven't seen this issue much either. No offense meant,Earl. As you'll see,the block I'm using has the lifters bushed.Everybody pointed fingers at the bushings even though that shop has probably CNC'd 100 Mopar blocks. No one suspected the cam. My warning is meant for all cams manufacturers, not just Racer Brown. As Don D mentioned, there are only 2 core suppliers. There has to be more than one bad core out there. This cam could've been any brand. All I'm saying is that very few guys check cams for this particular problem. You just stick them in and go.You could easily wipe a cam or worse, and chalk it up to spring pressure, bad oil/no add pack, tight lifter, etc. and not realize this issue was the actual culprit. Jim is a good guy, hell we're from the same city. But,when he didn't even get back to me after I sent him the pics,I fast-tracked a Comp through a good vendor.Maybe his position was that it wasn't his fault the core was bad.Or that I don't know how to install a cam.Either way,I never got the courtesy of a return call or email.I don't really care at this point.I'm out $180,but it easily could have been a $10K engine. If I help one guy catch this issue later on,I'll be a happy camper.
