I replaced the B & B style pp after I found a tear in the firewall where the clutch & brake bracket bolts through it. We ditched the B & B do to reduce excessive pressure on the firewall, (didn't want to build all the interior bracing I have seen) and went with the CF set up. Found, with Brewers help, that not only did I have the wrong fork, but also the wrong pivot location in the scatter shield. All this being changed, OC spring removed and I have a easy to drive Hemi Mopar. Still putting easy time on the car and haven't tried a hard launch yet, but have hung a few hard shifts and it seems to lock up just fine.? Cut the spring, buy a quality diaphragm and you'll have a great driver. I think, based on discussions with old racers if you leave the OC spring in and run a diaphragm clutch, you may find the pedal stuck to the floor at a high RPM shift! -- Just my 2 cents John Althaus 64 Savoy Hemi -----Original Message----- From: Dave Walters <whdavid@xxxxxxxxx> To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Sent: Fri, 9 Nov 2007 6:59 pm Subject: RE: Centerforce Clutch problem ledman_70@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote: > > I spent $49 from Brewers to REPLACE the missing overcenter spring in my > Polara, but the pedal still rests about 2" lower than the brake. I don't have enough time behind this CF set up to recommend it either way. But,I'd wouldn't rule out a Mcleod set up.The OC spring is removed per CFs insruction sheet.Or,you can keep the OC spring and use an extra heavy fork return spring. The OC spring, generally,is retained for the B&B set up and removed for a diaphragm clutch. How much clutch pedal play is there before resistence? You may have the wrong fork.
