Trunk torsion bar adjustment

Trying to get more tension for the trunk lid,Anybody know how to move the  
rods to a
different slot? Are you supposed to use a prybar to move them or is there a  
better way?
What is the proper slot that they should be in? I have one in the middle  and 
one in the foward
position ,so I know that is not correct.
