Gary...I've got one of those spring compressors too. You have to get the "claws"
on the lowest coil possible, then when you have the coils completely compressed,
tap the top of the tool to loosen the retainer from the keepers. Watch out
...the keepers sometimes fly out...and onto the floor...and then are hopelessly
lost! Good luck.
