hi nick,

lose the hood framing.
As someone with a freshly painted hood (and solid torque strap to the  
K frame, i thought since my car went down the hood and the motor  
cleared the hood that i was made in the shade (though i was  
forewarned).  Very first time i tromped on it, ding!  Drivers air  
cleaner cuffed the hood webbing.

hence...................cut it out.
