Derrick See Bill watson's recent messsage 'Re: Max wedge VIN info' - it explains the 4th digit. The '1' just means it was made at Lynch Road, where the Maxies were made. It doesnt tell you what engine it was made with though. You should be able to pin down the original engine size from the fender tag (if present); this conversation started because the car in question only had the VIN and no fender tag. Hope that helps?!
