Re: De anodizing aluminum trim

DJ,
Will this paint on coating keep the polished finish as bright as the "first polished" look?

Lee,
I used this stuff for a coating after de-anodizing all my aluminum
trim and it is excellant. Will not yellow and can be painted on with a
paint brush and smooth it's self out. I polished all the aluminum on a
buffing wheel, I'm not sure if you can use wax on it and then paint over
it?
It is made by the Por 15 folks and it is called Glisten PC. Do a
search type in POR 15, pick someone who sells it and look up under clear
coatings and read about it. It will not blue or discolor with time and
is UV protected.

Now, what are you going to do with the aluminum trim after the
anodizing is gone? Wont the weather corrode it? I understand the
polish to make it shiney, but what about long term protection? Clear
paint? Wax? I'm curious about how this trim will last now. ( I have
the same cloudy problem on some of my aluminum.)
