List- Good morning campers. I have a line on a good nos 361 short block from George Smith on the list. He claims it's a 1961-1964 casting; 1737629. My question to you is will it replace my cracked 361 in my 65 Belvedere? My casting 1945429-1 is dated 1-14-65. I can't seem to find anything that said these blocks were changed from their introduction in 1958 as the Golden Commando, Turboflash and D500 right up to their demise in 1966 (1972 for trucks) as the LA 318 came out (poor poly) and the 383 B and then RB became more suited as the mid-range V8. Would you happen to know if these blocks are interchangeable? I'd be looking to take most of the new stuff I had put into my block when it was rebuilt and installing them into this one. Long story with my 361, suffice to say I won't recommend that engine shop. This has been on the back burner for me until I saw George's post with his block.
