Button safety? Racers?

A gent wrote me asking the below question. I recall the practice of 
modifying the trans to allow swapping the order of the buttons so it was 
 much harder to punch R by mistake, but not this.

Anyone?

He wrote: 

"I remember some of the Mopar racers had a little plate they put on the 
dash push button panel to prevent pushing the wrong button, is there 
anybody who remembers these and maybe someone who makes or has one?"
