Working in the shop I've seen a few things, including a viscous fan flying apart with the clutch froze up during the motor over revving.

I've never heard of a factory fan coming apart. Don't throw wisdom out the window, Ben, or you'll soon enough learn the hard way.Dave Casey----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Jr. Morgan" <polara_hotrods@xxxxxxx>To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2007 4:15 PM Subject: RE: flex fansIf you're that paranoid, you shouldn't be driving these 2.5 ton screaming metal death traps. Besides, I don't care what kind of fan you have, you shouldn't lean over the front of a running motor, always stand to the side. And now your friend knows why. His fan was probably damaged in the first place, otherwise it wouldn't have happened.Polara_Blues (aka Ben Morgan Jr.) Me Wicked Wagon (aka The Beast): http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/17688554/ UPDATE: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/34992482/From: "Earl H. They are flat dangerous. I have cut myself several times just working around them. I will never getin the line of rotation of a flex fan while the motor is running. Earl I had a friend that got him arm cut severely when a flex fan 'exploded'while he was leaning over the front of his car. I stay FAR away from them.Speaking of which, my 65 Coronet currently has a solid 'flex' style on itthat I want to get rid of ASAP. What came on the car from the factory? Thislooks like it could be original. Bill M 65 Coronet 500 'vert On 4/17/07, Earl H. <earlh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Sean, > > I will have to dis-agree with my learned friend.
