RE: Replacing Open with Sure-grip

I guess I'm one of the "have nots" Earl. I'll never use Green bearings
again on a street driven car. When I was changing gears on a 66 Hemi
Charger I had, I replaced a perfectly good set of stock bearings with
Green bearings on the advise of a friend who's cars spend most of their
time on the track. The Green bearings failed in less than 6,000 miles
and I had to do the job all over again with stock bearings. Below is a
quote from that article on 8 3/4 rears.

Dan

Green Bearing Company builds a bearing kit that replaces the cone-type
wheel bearings. These are sealed roller bearing units that do not
require end play adjustment, however they offer no side to side support,
and fail quickly in street applications. These are drag race bearings
only (the manufacturer even lists them under the "Racing" segment of
their catalog). Green Part No. RP400.
