Thanks guys
I did think about making up a bracket or heat deflector thingy, and probably
would do if we were limited to a standard length cable, but if we can get a
longer version from this UK supplier, we should have about 1.5" minimum
clearance around the exhaust. Probably worth using some reflective wrap, and
may still make up some kind of shield too if necessary. Like the idea of the
cut-down conduit Jimmy!

I used a bracket much like the one under the gas peddle to hold the trans
cables "out-da way". It's tack welded to the floor pan and my cables are
wedged (lack of a better term) between the bracket and the floor. sorry no
pictures.

Mine is the original length and it lays on the header collector. I insulated
it and made a heat shield for it as well. The heat shield is a piece of
aluminum conduit bent in the shape of the route that the cable takes. Kinda
of a long, stretched out "U".or better yet, a long "L" shape.
I cut the top part of the conduit off the full length, making it a little
more that half a thickness of pipe.. I stuff the cable into the conduit.
It can't be a tight fit, as it has to be removed to work on the cable or
transmission. It does make the cable burn proof.
I can't say how many I burned up prior to making that heat shield.
Good luck
Jimmy
