The original 68 is either in Rockford, Il or Phoenix, AZ. The same person
owns the original
65 and that is probably in Phoenix. The 68 appeared at a few shows around
here over
the last few years. The owner has a great collection of A bodies including a
68 Hemi Dart,
a 68 Hemi Barracuda, a 68 Mr Norm's 440 Dart (the one used for the model),
three 69 M code
Darts and a hand full of Mr Norm's GSS Demons. Doesn't have any 62-65's that
I know of but
he does have a 66 Hemi Convert B body can't remember make. And the cars are
real not clones.

Tis true for a good 383 crank that is a decent price but for the 426 from a
400 we take a 383 crank (cause they are steel) and send it to Canadian
Chrome and Crank. They weld it , stress relieve it and grind it for a 3.53
stroke so there is no point in starting with a good one since we are going
to modify it anyway however, if push came to shove I guess I would.

Power steering does fit without any problem w/440 and MaxWedge exhaust.
Mine is in a '62 Sport Fury.
I hignly recommend updating the "full time power steering" to "firm feel"
for better handling. It is about $275.
There are several vendors around the country that can do it. Check the '62-
'65 vendor listing for someone in your area.

I don't think the power brakes can be used with MaxWedge exhaust.
You can upgrade to manual disc brakes and utilize a later model Dakota

manifold and master cylinder and lines.

I have a couple of pics I took a few weeks ago, that I could send you, of
the SSBC dual circuit master cylinder fitted to our 63 Polara, without
servo. We have the Mopar Performance st/st heat shield, and original MW exh
manifolds. There's about 1/2" gap under the heat shield, above the manifold,
and that's with the shield bent up a bit to give more clearance.
If we'd fitted a booster, it looks like the m/c would be right on top of the
manifold, without room for the shield.
Shame really, cos our brakes are no better with front discs than they were
with original drums, so I'm sure they'd benefit from having a servo too.
I'm hoping we can get some improvement when we've had a go adjusting the
proportioning valve - maybe get some more bias to the front discs.

What I meant to ask was will max wedge exhaust manifolds work on a 62
dart/polara with power brake booster? I don't know if it was an option
with the max wedge or not. Alex

This week my publisher went bankrupt. They expanded too fast and then he
got the big C and didnt have the strength to fight on. That means the
end for my OR book (andmy other boook as well) . i have a few left so if
any want them the list guys come first. I will see how many have left.
DVDs will still be available .
Re the 426 project where we made a 426 from a 400. Gary sold the 400
cheapie (but it wasnt cheap :.)
and we started running the new 426. First pass was a 7.0 in 1/8 and in
hours it was running 6.70s. At Grand Bend he ran a 10.64 and at Cicero
(aka Slipero) he ran some 6.60s which I believe is under the 10.60 mark
comparativley speaking despite spinning a bit on launch. .We are very
pleased with the results and I am looking forward to doing a street
version if I ever find another used 383 crank to use as a core. I would
like to try it in my 63 while i update the 426MW

It looks like power brakes will not fit my 64 Plymouth with the Max Wedge
exhaust manifolds. I'm changing my car over to manual brakes and adding
front discs.

Subject: Another radio question (Oh great)
Harold:
I had a chance to check out the clearance behind the radio on my '62
Valiant. (It still has a working stock am tube radio, so I am inclined to
leave mine, as is.) I have about four inches clearance between the back of
the radio and the firewall.
I am thinking that there is probably less clearance on the Val because of
the firewall profile, which is not going to be the same as the other '62 to
'65's. I don't know if this is any help, or not!

I plan on trying to finish the 62-65 Mopar calender this week but I
won't have time to get one printed. I tested positive for prostate

I'm good to go on the surgery. I'm trying to get everything done

about going to the doctor and I'm sure a lot of you guys are also.
Anyway, hopefully I can get Gary H. to post the calender file like
last year, where you can just print it out or you can take the file to
Kinko's or wherever and they will print you a calender. Menko also
offered to host the calender file before, thanks.

Subject: Radiator Question
Good morning,
Got a question for all the gurus out there. I have a 1965 Plymouth Satellite
that was an original 318 with AC car. It now has a 440 and the AC is no
longer with the car. I went to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses
this weekend. I had ordered molded hoses for a 65 with the 426 wedge
thinking that would be the closest to what I now have. The lower hose did
fit but interferes with the oil filter (I do have the short version of the
filter on the car) pretty bad. I wanted to install the original looking
Corbin style clamps with the new hoses but on the bottom hose was unable to
get the end that goes to the radiator to seal with out putting on the
regular worm style clamp. The new upper hose that I got wasn't even close so
I ended up reinstalling the one that was on the car when I bought it. I'm
guessing the radiator is probably the 318 radiator which has the stamping
number #2524969. My question is, would I be better off getting hoses for the
318 with air? I realize the lower one still will probably have the filter
issue. If I went with the proper radiator for a big block what number should
I look for? If I did that I assume the hoses I have would fit properly.
Thanks for your help.
