Re: Hardtop?#2

If you are looking at a 1964 Belvedere, it cannot be a 4-door hardtop. The
last Belvedere 4-door hardtop was built in 1959 and all 1960-64 Plymouth
4-door hardtops were Fury models.

So, if you roll the windows down and there is no post between the front and
rear door window openings, you have a 4-door hardtop. If there is a post
from roof to floor between the doors, you have a 4-door sedan.

If your VIN starts with "224" or "324", you have a Belvedere and thus it
cannot be a 4-door hardtop. If your VIN starts with "234" ot "334", you
have a Fury model, which could be a 4-door hardtop. Chrysler built 13,714
Fury 4-door hardtops in 1964 - but zero Belvedere 4-door hardtops. So if
you have a 4-door hardtop with a VIN starting at "224" or "324", it's not
real.

OK, I know now that there is no way to tell if the car
is a true Belvedere 4dr hardtop by the VIN number. Is
there any other way to tell?
Does anyone have an opinion on this? I think the 4dr
hardtops are cool, but I would hate to buy a car that
the VIN was changed or it isn't what it says.
Can anyone point me to a good resource to find out?
Where are these books that evryone keeps talking
about, that has production info and other useful info?
Seems to me that all the knowledge in this group of
guys, there would be some "BUY IT, IT's RARE" or "STAY
AWAY, IT's FAKE".
What do ya say guys?
