choke thermostat

This is off-topic, but can someone please tell me what the single 
electrical wire is for, that comes out of the choke thermostat on 
mid-70's and up Mopars?  On a Holley, I know it heats the coil in the 
electric choke, but what about the factory Mopar stuff?
