I just checked my 65 and it also is black. The hold down spring is natural
gray/zinc. There is a yellow caution label on the right side if the jack
mechanism. It says: Caution, do not get under car supported by jack only. Set
emergency brake and block wheels. This jack is for changing tires only. On
the left side it is stamped; Pat's Pending 15R. I checked my 65 Belvedere and
it is the same. There is a "Caution follow jacking instructions" label on the
handle side of the base plate. Plasti-coat engine enamel in universial black
works good, but if you want a really good epoxy, Mercury outboard engine
paint is the best rattle can epoxy paint I've ever found. OMC (outboard motors)
has silver and a off white that are both excellent. BTW - I've never been
able to locate one of those side fixed caution labels, but Year One has the
"Caution follow jacking instructions" that is mounted on the handle side of
the base plate, #JW1. Y.O. also has a post 66 spring FR722, the wing nut
FD32619 and the jack handle FD4976 if you're a purist. Hope it helps. Joe
