Mass air is easier to tune and is more forgiving for things like cam changes, etc. I've heard that you can make more raw power with speed density, once its tuned properly.
For hillborn's, you'd have a mess if you tried to plumb it for mass air, and you'd loose the whole velocity stack visual effect. Some careful dyno tuning would yield a suitable speed density tune, but you'd have to do it again if you made any major changes to the engine.

I have read that a mass air system is far superior, especially in ease
of use, to a speed density system.  Is this true?
