Hi Guys,
I just wanted to get your input on this 727 issue. I have a 1965 plymouth
fury ii with a 318 poly, and 727. I recently add an aluminum tranny pan to
it, that involved me to add an filter extension to lower the filter further
into the pan (required adding two quarts of fluid also). I used Mobil 1
synthetic fluid in the tranny, and here is the status:
1. w/o kicking down, the tranny shifts normal.
2. if I disconnect the kickdown, the tranny operates normally.
3. if the kickdown is connected, the kickdown when shifting from 1-2 works
fine
4. if the kickdown is connected, the kickdown when shifting from 2-3 acts
like it shifts in neutral. It seems to happen around 4500 RPM. If you are
already driving at a significant speed, like 55MPH, then perform a kickdown,
the it almost always jumps into "neutral". If you start out at dead idle,
and floor it, 99% of the time, it will hold 2nd for what seems like to long,
then kick into "neutral".
It did not do this before the pan/fluid swap, but that may be a coincidence.
5. shift manually with the kickdown disconnected, evreything is fine.
Is my tranny in need of surgery, or do I need to tighten the bands? Any
input appreciated,
thanks,
Derek
