I took all my original engine and drivetrain out, rebuilt everything, and put it all in storage. I then put the 496" stroker, BB trans, and 4.10 in the car. It was expensive to do it that way, but whenever I do get ready to sell, I am sure that the value will be greater with all of the numbers matching stuff.

I was wondering if I could get some opinions here.

I plan to stroke the poly 318 in my 64 Belvedere this winter (was going to last
winter but couldn't afford to do it right).
The car has just turned 41K and is original, clean and documented.
I'm the third owner, the second merely took it in trade for some masonry work
and sold it to me.

Should I pull this engine and offer it for sale? You almost can't hear it when
it's idling it runs that smooth and burns rubber (as best a SB can) when you
punch it. Would this engine be of any substantial value to a restorer or
collector or is it just me? I have another block I can use for the stroker
project but I can't help think I'm taking an original unmolested beautiful
engine and ruining it (in a matter of speaking). As much as I would like to
keep original everything, am I violating some unwritten rule? I almost feel
like videotaping it just to show how well these engines run (or ran). Maybe I'm
being silly and should just use this clean block and turn it into a 500 HP
monster.

What do you guys think?

Tom
