Don,
I have been running a "built" 904 for over ten years in my 340 Dart with
excellent results and durability;
Alto race clutches, rigid band, Colene steels, 5.0 lever, manual valve body
(cause I like it in this application), and a Continental 10" 3500stall
convertor w/3.91's and short 25" tires in a 3200lb. Dart; 12.8 @ 106mph
through the mufflers first trip to the track for a mild 340.

I've finally found a local trans rebuilder who will rebuild a 71 904 with
extra clutches and something to do with a drum (his secretary/wife? just
called and she wasn't sure). Since this trans is going behind a somewhat
warmer than stock 340 in a 65 Dart wagon, what should I be asking for to
ensure it's longevity, ability to stand behind the 340. I've heard about
the extra clutches and thought I've heard/read about using a low gear set??
but can't remember and can't locate the article in the magazine. Also I
seem to remember you guys recommending using a torque convertor from
Dynamic.(Frank Lupo?). Any advice on stall speed? Any comments,
recommendations, etc you guys can pass along will definitely be appreciated.
Don
PS In a 65 Dart wagon, 8 & 3/4 w/ either 2.94 or 3.23 gears, LBP discs.
