help with cable

This is a little off subject, But I have a 74 duster 
360cu. and 727 trans.I installed a B&M hammer
shifter,TTI headers. Putting the cable in is a night
mare. I have two cables 8ft HD and the standard 5
foot. Anyone been there done that.
