The STREET wedge was still made and used in 1965. No 1965 car had a MAX WEDGE from the Factory. Period. I always get into debates at the shows with people who have bought cars and they swear that thats the way that they came from the factory. They say that the guy that sold them the car said it was original. Ya want to buy the Brooklyn bridge. Do the home work before you buy.. I usually have some of my referance books with me at the shows and try to enlighten these souls but then some still don't believe. And yes their were some people who got Hemis instead of max wedges. if there car was ordered after a certain date to have a max wedge it came through with a Hemi. I've seen nothing that documents their existence. Also, the Race Hemi replaced, not supplemented, the Max Wedge towards the end of the model run in '64. I've heard stories of poor saps who actually had a their '64 car sent to them with a race hemi equipped instead of the Max Wedge car they had ordered - personally, I'd never want to receive a new engine type the first year it was made - let some other sucker work out the bugs :>) .
