Hi Russ
Ive done disc brakes on the front of my 63 sport fury 3 times!
The first set was from Master Power. I could not get the pads to seat and they wore in a funny pattern I didn't like. Their "GM" style proportioning valve leaked. I think they sent 3 different ones and they all leaked.
Next I tried Baer "BIG ASS" brakes. What drew me to them was their integral, adjustable proportioning valve. and they also supply a tool to use to adjust the brake pedal push rod which was very helpful.
Again. very hard compound disc material that I couldn't get to seat, so with both of these sets I couldn't get the car to stop like I felt it should. I didn't feel safe.
Last, I tried "Scarebird" which is now owned by "US Car Tool". I talked to the owner several times and everybody I dealt with there was pleasant. They use a variety of mass produced parts. As an example, I think the rotors were from a Chrysler Cordoba and the calipers were GM!
I recall what a PITA it was to shim and measure and shim some more on the MP and BAER. Not needed with "Scarebird". Just make sure the mounting area on the knuckle is good and clean. The only issue I had was the wheel bearing seal didn't fit. I retained the Baer Master Cylinder.
I wish you good luck. I'd be glad to answer any questions.
