Re: speaking of police cars



only reason I watch the old  tv shows (Highway Patrol, Leave it to Beaver, to Dragnet and One Adam 12 ect) is to check out the old Mopars.  Lots of cool cars show up in those.
For instance, when Ward Clever was driving a 63 Fury 4dr Hardtop, Lumpys dad had a 63 Dodge.   The late 50's Mopars that show up in the Highway Patrol series are amazing.  Lots of Desotos and many ragtops.  Love the 57 to 59 Dodge patrol cars.  The later series had Chargers, Roadrunners and Cuda's show up occasionally...not to mention the Satellite patrol cars.

That’s some great insight into TV production but another reason for the dark red and white paint scheme was that the dark red filmed in black and white appeared as dark green on the TV screen. By the way the NYPD cars had a dark green, white and black paint scheme.
