With a car like that, i'd say to build it to enjoy. Look at me, I took a rust old 64 dodge station wagon that we bought for $350 six years ago, dropped a built 383 magnum and cut the floor boards up and installed a 4-speed. Now I've had offers from the rich kids from school that i've blown off the track for more than $3,000. The car runs 13s. It doesn't even have any interior, it was all rotten, plus it took some weight off the car.

I'm interested in the forum's opinion on this too as I have the same
combination in my 65 Belv2 convertible but my motor is tired and the 3 speed
column shift has cracked linkage.  I have a 361/727 combo all ready to go
with axle and rear from a 4 door donor.

My '65 Coronet 500 is just back from the restoration shop. Now that the body
is perfect and with a flawless paint job (not the original color though), I
am getting ready to put everything back together. The original 273 and 904
trans are freshly rebuilt. My question is whether or not I would be hurting
the value by installing a later model RB engine with a 1965 big block 727
Any comments are surely welcome. Thanks.
