>Scott,  You can buy a plastic putty knife, and use the handle end to
push the material onto the spikes. I hold the loose fabric edge, and
press the knife handle into the channels to make the headliner taught,
and get behind the spikes to grab the material. Then you can press the
extra material into the channel to help hold the edge in place. Just work
slow and be sure eveything is where you want it, before committing to
using the spikes to their maximum. Sometimes a little heat will help with
the wrinkles, and time will also allow things to even out.
