My experience is that when mixed, the two types will quickly start eating up seals and gaskets. Don't even start the engine as that will make things worse. Just pull the pan and let it drip for awhile before giving it fresh fluid. You might end up needing a re-seal or worse, but I wouldn't expect any hard parts to require attention.

I screwed up!

The guy who rebuilt the autmatic transmission on my '64 Sport Fury used type"F" transmission fluid. When I replaced a leaking gasket recently, I refilled it with one quart of transmission fluid that I had on hand - thinking it was the correct type.

Later, reading the fine print on the back I discovered what I added was not type "F" and the type I had could be mixed with most types EXCEPT for "F".

How bad of a mess did I create -- should I replace all the fluid? Should I not drive her till I do? HELP!

Thanks,
Doug
