Wiping a car off with a towel can force any small dirt or dust particles into the paint and cause small scratches, which will have to be polished out. My buddy is a body/paint man, and he says never wipe off a dirty car. I don't know anything about the dry car wash system, but I never wipe my cars down without rinsing them first.
