I have an update.

I made it over later this afternoon.
I put a clear filter in place of the metal one, cut open the metal one and
it was full of sediment.
Further, the engine would scream on a steady shot of carb cleaner and bog on
raw fuel, backfire and want to stall.

My cousin came over and placed his hand over the throat and pulled the
throttle to choke it. He did this a few times with almost stalling the motor
and then lifting his hand to release the vacuum. He hand was dirty and also
had bits of sediment, almost like rusty sand. I think it's bad gas, rusting
tank inside (outside looks good) or possibly contamination within the tank.
The woman who sold it to me always put lead additive in the gas, every time
she filled the tank and I think this might be part to blame. I only use the
stuff a few times a year myself. I'm going to try and run the gas through
and watch the filter. My cousin suggested two filters in line, maybe I
will.

It's not running great but better than it was. I haven't put a load on it
yet. Tomorrow, I'll take her for a spin.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Tom
