 the electrical diagram I am using  for my 64 polara ( its actually a 64
 ply. B-body diagram, i assume they are the same, all i could find
 online)
    shows what they call "Printed cIRCUIT CONNECTOR  #1" and then theres
    a " printed circuit connector #2". Each has five wires each of
    various colors. Am I correct in assuming this is what i call the "
    Octupus", the cluster that plugs in to the back of the dash, on to 
    the little prongs?
   The real question is this: are the colors that they show on the
   diagram neccasarily  going to be on the connector in that order?  For
   instance for printed circuit connector #1 they list 1-5 as Orange,
   lite green, violet, lite blue, black. Now when u get up there and
   look, the colors are there all right but they are not in that order
   at all, that is to say for example- there is indeed a lite green but
   theres no violet next to it. Should it be like that?
   Makes me wonder if the wires running to the  octupus are  plugged in
   all wonky!
