Bass ackwards??

OK, I got my electronic ignition wired in, went very slowly, looked at
the charts often, engine bay sure looks neater than the
bowl-of-spaghetti that was in there.
       But heres the problem, once its running it runs great but
       cranking and starting seems weird:
     while cranking it just keeps cranking, but u let off the key and it
     catches. My guess, i have tapped in to the ignition switch
     backwards and am not getting spark until i let off andthe key falls
     back to run position. Could that be????
   Or could it be a bum starter relay,  maybe i banged  that around as i
   worked, maybe i busted it.
   Waht do u guys think?
