Just my opinion, I'm sure there are many other ideas.

For repro exhaust parts probably Accurate LTD http://www.accurateltd.com/ or TTI http://www.ttiexhaust.com/

Gas shocks are way superior to originals and are available at local parts counters or The Paddock, Layson's, PST etc. The reason I would even look for an original Mopar shock would be for resto to trailer queen.

Unless 3rd member needs other major mechanical help I'd just top it up. You should inspect pinion gear seal and outboard axle bearing seals to make sure it is not leaking significantly. The oil level was either never correct or it went somewhere. You especially don't want it leaking at outboard axle bearings or it will surely get onto the brake linings. Not sure what you will find at auto parts store for oil. Many of the mfr's have gone to synthetic base gear oils which are probably better than old petro based hypoid gear oil but you should read labels to see what they say about mixing. I have not had occasion to even top an axle up for awhile, others on list may have ideas?

For front end bushings and other parts if you could try NAPA for OEM replacements or Performance Suspension Technology has both OEM and poly-graphite parts. www.p-s-t.com They have shocks too.

There's an outfit called American Muscle Restoration Parts and Tools that may have suspension parts but also has the tools you would need to work on torsion bars and related bushings www.americanmuscle.biz

Service manual or tech desk at PST has ride-height adjustment info. After you play with front end invest in a good alignment.

I got a reject inspection sticker yesterday for a few reasons and I'd
appreciate any help you folks can provide.
My cousin was slow at his repair station so I was able to "borrow" a lift
for a little while. Case of beer rent.

My muffler has a hole on it right next to the exhaust connection. The tail
side is beginning to come through as well. It's the original exhaust. The
muffler has a 9-63 date stamp. The system is welded with a single clamp at
the crossover pipe - exhaust pipe connection. Any suggestions for a correct
MOPAR muffler before I settle for a parts store universal one size fits all?
It's a poly engine, 34K original, single exhaust system.
I'm thinking of trying a patch for now as I have 30 days here in MA on the
"R" inspection to correct it.

Shocks are leaking, seals are gone. They still work but time has dried them
out. Are gas shocks what many of you have come to use? It's strictly a
driver.

The center section was clean inside when I opened the fill plug but the
level was down. I could get a bent wire wet at about 1" down. It should be
just below when on a frame lift. Should I just top it off or suck it and
re-fill? It's a 741 case, open gear (one wheel one way, the other
opposite), no ratio ID tag. It was dirty but after spraying and wiping it
down, it doesn't appear to have any leaks. Just SAE90 or is there something
better?

I need front strut rod bushings. They're cracked and pieces are missing.
Any sources? I was going to do the torsion bar bushings front and rear at
the same time. I think these are on Ebay. How do you set the torsion bars
for height and load before the lock nut is torqued? I also need some help
with grease. What do you guys use? My cousin say's he used to use long
fiber. What the heck is that?

I couldn't get the rear drums off to save my life. I spooned them in as far
as I could and even whacked the drums out with a mallet but no go. I didn't
want to break anything so I adjusted them back out until they rubbed the
drums and put the wheels back on. Nice high pedal, stops fine (for manual
with a single master!) for now. Am I doing something wrong?

There's a bunch of other stuff I think I can lick but these have me confused
beyond normal state.
I'm so happy to finally be driving something I don't want to do anything
else!
