The drums come off the hub. It is not hard and the drums will
interchange with newer car drums as long as they are the same diameter
and depth.

Doug Baker told me the trick and it has been posted here many times.

Put the lug nuts on the studs until they are flush with the top of the
stud. Hit the studs with a hammer. Usually by the time you have driven
in the second stud (about 1/8") the drum releases from the hub.

When you need the studs pulled back out turn the lug nut around and with
a few washers, tighten it to pull the studs back.

Very easy and cost effective.

I got drums from an 87 5th Avenue for $10 each and replaced my warn
drums from my 64 440.

btw, the front drums come off the hubs too! They are the same drums as
the others.

Regards,

K.
