I don't think the 1965 police wheels used the slots. Wasn't that a later 
year's design?

hiya , police wheels are standard rims with exception they are 7 inches 
wide. stock rims are 6 inches . police wheels allow you to go to wider 
tires, they are 15 inch rather than 14 inch as stock are.
