I agree with Joey
When I was building my 440 this winter, I mentioned the lead-hardening of
seats theory to a couple people and got laughs and confused looks.
My machinist said he doesnt see how this could work with the detergents
in todays gas.
He told me that unleaded gas will run thru them. You just wont see the
damage for a while. So, if you have the heads off, you can replace the
seats and do a valve job, or you can wait and replace the seats, valves
and possibly guides later. Or add the lead additive to each tank...
