The '72 440 that I have had 346's with parallel bars on them, and the seats were not hardened, or didnt appear to be hardened anymore. Then again the engine was pretty abused too. Shaving these heads can give you back some compression. I ended up with mine shaved .060 on the deck side, ended up with a 75cc chamber. Cant remember how much was shaved on the intake side.
