Allen,
       Going on a hunch here....but my guess is the dust shield over the 
torque converter is bent in hitting the flexplate, or a flexplate to converter 
bolt is loose hitting the cover. In reverse the convertor is pushed further 
forward due to the higher pressure involved with reverse, in nuetral pressure is 
down, therefore no or less thrust pressure. Anyway, check the cover, and the 4 
bolts on the flexplate. Dan Jenks
