John, thanks for that. The first place I go at a swap is to the fellas with the magazines. I've collected every issue with a road test of every relic I own and read them often, especially now since I can't remember much. Seems like I learn something new every time.
Tom McCahill loved the F and bought one so I hear.

Subject: hi , about 300F in Hot Rod magazine
There are a number of hot rod magazines on sale on E bay under ten bucks with contemporary 1960 300F article, I am surprised still there . Search 300 F
I was browsing, just saw it .Bought one , although I have one
Not as good as the mid summer 62 one about nhra 62 nationals, and 300, that car did great That latter 62 one has pages of really great tech info . Never pass that one up /- Ray Brock / Hot Rod Magazine ran that car , very smart guy .
He beat all hot fords chev pontiacs ( 421 4 speeds ) He was in 12's with a full size " stock " 62 . First time ever automatic turned a faster time than any 4 speed . Go go .. new 727 , before they smoothed it out!
Final race, for the gold vs 421 pontiac in a light 2 dr sedan ( that is a chevy w Pontiac chrome) he was asleep on line ,he turned a faster elapsed time but lost auugh
I remember all this like yesterday , As my nemesis on the street was a 62 421 Pontiac 4 spd . I had 300D in d500 dodge , packard stick. 3:70 gear in light dodge really wakes up that D hemi
Grab these mags ...
