Re: {Chrysler 300} 1962 Throttle Plastic Clip

I welded  a steel spacer on to the bracket  that bolts to the engine , ran the  shaft through  that , bolt  the bracket  back on the engine .
Are you done messing with  that stupid plastic  clip yet ???????????
Very simple to do   this update .
Any  questions, get  a hold of me.....................

Furthermore….

Here is the bracket with the ill fitting clip:

And aside from not fitting or staying in the bracket….the new clip already has a crack:

Hi Ron (& All),

Sorry about my delayed response here.
You asked for a photo of the clip & where it lives in the linkage.

This is the hard plastic clip:

This reproduction clip fits (or snaps into) this bracket piece (part 14-11-20):

The bracket is mounted by a single bolt to the top of the transmission bell housing and a rod travels through the plastic clip.
The rod rotates & creates wear to the plastic clip.

The reproduction clips seem to be a hair too small to stay in the bracket; at least that is my summation.
I have tried a couple of these clips and they keep popping out of the bracket when I press the gas pedal all the way down to the floor.
The rod pops out with the clip & then your gas pedal will not return all the way back.
I have to unbolt the bracket, pop the clip back into it, slide the rod through the clip & re-bolt the bracket back on.
Quite annoying.

So…..I am going to do what smarter club members than I am have done….
And work to replace the plastic clip with a brass bushing that won’t pop out of the bracket.
This will be living in my ’62 NY Wagon, which now has the 300H intake & carb. setup.
When I do get to assembling my 300H, I will hope there is a better reproduced plastic clip, since I will be trying to make everything under the hood look very factory.

Thanks

I tried 2 different white plastic clips today (an old one & a new one).
They both popped out when I tried to floor it & open up both carbs on my new 413 H motor build.

I had previously adjusted all linkage items per the shop manual for the letter car motor.
Thanks!
