Re: {Chrysler 300} Powdercoating rims or not?

Hi all:

I think I resolved the problem of losing a wheel cover as follows:

Applied more paint to the wheel where the tangs touch.

Bent the tangs out a bit.

I've driven to San Diego, Alamorgodo, Phoenix, Denver, San Francisco, Sacramento, Bakersfield all at 70 mph or higher and have not lost one nor had one turn in the wheel.  All trips originated from my home in the Los Angeles area.
I might add that the covers are more difficult to remove.

Also since my wife passed away, I'll be relocating to my hometown of New Bethlehem, PA in the near future so I'll be able to attend more Meets than from here in CA.

Mike,

I had my 300 G 15” wheels powder coated (black) about 14 years ago and am very happy with them.  I have no problem with the wheel covers staying in place.  I also have metal valve stems, they came with the car when I bought it in 1978, I believe they were original.  The powder coat had held up well and there are very few scratch marks on the coating when wheel cover is removed.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Powdercoating rims or not?

Hi to all

I finally have gathered rims, tires and wheelcovers (the D, G, H J covers) to convert the K to 15 in wheels. While I acknowledge this would not be original I am consdiering powdercoating the rims but was wondering how that will effect the grip of the wheelcovers if at all. At the price of the covers I would hate to lose one or more.
