Gloria, you are correct. The bill author did hear from a lot of “old” car owners as this bill would affect all designations of cars from classic to hot rod.
It is my understanding the bill has been pulled from this session.
From my reading on the bill, most of it did restate what we currently have under the law. What upset most people was the addition of her supposedly “clearing up” language about when the cars can drive on weekends Her language of cars being driven from “sunrise to sunset” on the weekend was what sparked most comments. Evidently she didn’t think anyone took their cars out of state to need to be on the road before sunrise or that we sometimes stay out after sunset!
Our State Patrol said right now, as long as cars aren’t being used as daily drivers to work, they don’t stop them. If the law she wrote would have passed they said they’d follow the law and ticket those drivers on the road before or after sunrise/set.
We should now have a year to educate her to the facts.

This may be a mute point in the state of NH being that the law requiring inspections is under review. However they did take into consideration antique vehicles....John

The question is whether that historical/collector status avoids inspections and compliance with emission standards. Here in New Jersey we used to have a terrible time leaning out the ram cars to comply with the emission standards, until the state finally decided to exempt all cars more than 25 years old from inspection. The argumaent was made that there were not enough of them to really make a substantial difference, plus the fact that most collector cars were better maintained than was the average driver.. That was one of the very few things the government of New Jersey has ever done correctly.
