--Well,
After letting it cool for a couple of hours, and getting breakfast at a local diner, it appears that…
I then started it up in neutral and poured in enough fluid for it start to register on the dip stick. When I got it in that range of the dip stick…starting to show...it was pouring out onto the floor via the cover plate on the front of the transmission. I do mean pouring out. I guess the front seal failed.
Has anyone ever seen a complete seal failure on these?

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Transmission in my 300K
Well,
I happened in the 300K. The transmission went out. I suspected that the trans needs some work, now it seems to be near death.
I took off today from San Fancisco to my place out of town. I was going down the hill on the other side of the bridge and noticed smoke trailing but it was hard to see as it was just before dawn. I got off in San Rafael, and it was obvious I was in trouble. Smoke coming from the side of the car.
I went into a gas station and they had fluid; they did not however have a funnel. All I could do it look at it in the night air.
I decided to drive the car carefully and head back to the city. The thing was wanted to free rev a couple of times. The road between San Rafael and the city is the highway. No back roads. So, I would it up to 50 and we made steady progress. When I got home it was trailing a path of fluid.
I just put in into the garage to let it cool down and to allow the sun to come up.
What a pain the ass this is. Now I must tow the car to a trans shop…if I can fine one in the city…as I am in no shape to change the trans…
