Re: {Chrysler 300} Started a messy project

Resending, as 3 pics were too large for the distro.

Hi Jay,

I recreated my light shield and the felt surround from an old thank you card box and some felt from the craft store!😉 The original shield and felt surround were still in place on the heater controls, so that gave me something to patten after👍

Definitely eliminated the light glare and rattling shift buttons when those components were missing! I think I used a glue stick to help keep the felt secured to the bezel. Judging by the old glue that was on there, that was what had been used at some point prior.

Hi Jay;

That cardboard is a light shield. You don't absolutely

need it but you can get new ones from Quirey.

Those dash pad tangs -- I had the entire dash tilted on those two

bolts down by the kick panels and had access. I am not sure

you can get to the tangs otherwise, but I did not try.

Hiho

I finally got the nerve to start this task. Thanks to Steve Albu for sharing the step by step instructions. They are pretty good with exception of a couple of places that are vague. For example, it says to twist four metal tangs. Two to the left and two to the right of the speaker grill. It doesn’t mention the outside tangs are almost all the way over to the edge of the dash. I feel like I need Stretch Armstrong arms to reach them. It’s a very messy job. My pad literally crumbled in my hands. The padding was gooey and crumbling. I’ll post after pictures when I’m done, but I do have a question…When I removed the gear selector, there was a cardboard separator that fell out in several pieces. Is this required and if so, where can I source one?
