I passed on a nice '71 Roadrunner in WV for that reason. It was painful.

The State of Colorado does the same. If all the boxes on the inspection form don’t fit the expected parameters. DR2698 State issued VIN. The non running vehicles automatically end up with a Salvage title. Number change vehicles never see the road again. Don’t worry at least you get to go to court and explain how it happened. Rick
I do not get it. Pull off the side panel and spot weld it back on…in my case the ’64 had popped on one of the welds. I just glued it down…looks perfect.
James
I can tell you that I didn’t bid because of the title/bond/vin issue.
Mike
It likely helped. Large American mid century beasts do far better in red or black. White is a liability. Only us purists care about
the proper color. My guess is the buyer was not one of us.

I’m not sure if the color change from White to Resale Red helped or hurt its cause, financially speaking.
Yes, as a warning to everybody. If you own a car that is perfect, but the restorer riveted the vin on, Arizona is going to make you
get a state issued vin.
Aside from the few comments made the other day, the car was a righteous car clearly the recipient of a very high dollar frame off restoration.
I think had it not had to be re vinned, it would've sold for a lot more money. Heartbreaking.
The VIN was listed in the auction summary. But apparently it was changed to an Arizona VIN because the original VIN tag was
pop riveted on. In Noel’s photo of the description, it lists the VIN as M591100157.

What's the VIN. It isn't shown in this string. I only go by VINs and want to make note of the sale price.
Just a quick correction. The 300E sold for 85K, or 93.5K with Buyer’s Fee.
The car just sold for around 75K. 85K with buyer’s fee.
A couple of additional observations: The mirrors are 1961 variety. Also the nylon tip on the MirrorMatic on-off switch is
missing. Were 1959 413s originally black ?
If you look at the description on the windshield in IMG_1751, there is a CYA disclaimer at the bottom that says basically,
don’t make any assumptions about the car and don’t assume that anything in the seller’s description is correct.
Ron is correct in that we list this E convertible as a white car.
The B-J marketing card describes the color as Matador Red which, as we know, was Chrysler's 1958 red and claims
it was the factory color. Radiant Red was Chrysler's 1959 300-E red. Also, a minor point that the hubcap centers on this E are painted red, rather than black.
Attached are a couple photos my friend texted me yesterday.
This 300E will be up for sale on Friday, 1/23/2026. Auction claims that it’s factory red. But the 300E registry says it’s a white car.
