My 300G had Edelbrock electric chokes installed on the stock 2903s by the P.O. I actually prefer them. They work very well and reliably. The upside is that both chokes open consistently at the same rate, and rather quickly in warm/hot weather. This eliminates any rough idle or stalling during the warm up phase. The stock automatic chokes do not always open in sync. How many Fs and Gs do we see at meets stumbling and stalling during warm up? Just sayin'. I let the G warm up on fast idle until the chokes open enough to get off the fast idle cams, and this is typically only maybe 2-3 minutes in warm weather. I don't like to engage the trans on full fast idle. I would suggest wiring them through switched ignition, but the P.O. wired them direct to bat with an auxiliary toggle switch for some reason, which requires one to remember to turn the chokes off after cruising, lest I wish to return to a low/dead battery next time. My car has also had the exhaust manifold heat risers removed by the P.O (a blessing!) - how many cars do we see with those doggone things frozen and non-functioning? On the J and Ram K, the factory got it right - manual chokes and no floppy heat risers.

A friend has two 1960 ram cars and he's convinced he needs electric chokes.
