I think I have located in the Parts Book the answer….I believe this to be referencing the vacuum hoses going to the back of the A/C Switch….

Yes my hose from back of I take to interior switch is hard and brittle from heat. I will splice in a new section under the hood. Was just wanting to confirm if it is 1/8” or a different size? Pretty easy to snip off the hardened part and put an extender on to get back in business quickly.
I think it is ok with rubber wiper hose , but actually, why all this? original hoses are fine usually and color coded stripes on them , all cut to different lengths and molded onto block —it IS under the dash ? Get another harness off junk car same year if somehow destroyed ? The one to engine manifold sometimes gets beat up , splice new length on to old with 3/4” brass nipple under dash ? It ought to be perfect ! thanks , John On Sep 17, 2025, at 6:11 PM, Rich Barber <c300@xxxxxxx> wrote:
Dunno for sure. Must fit snugly on the brass nipples of the actuator. That’s how the pushbuttons work—to divert vacuum to one side or the other of the enclosed diaphragm. I was seriously asking for a liquid substance one could jack into each side of the diaphragm to keep it strong and flexible forever. God help us if a diaphragm leaks…. Rich Good idea on cleaning those rods!! Is the hose 1/8” that feeds the back of the A/C switch? It small

I polished the rods in the portions that reciprocate through the full range of the diaphragm stroke, lubed them, tested them with a vacuum gun and reinstalled. Not perfect but I feel the tiny leak is acceptable to the engine. Any ideas to extend the life of the internal diaphragms. Flexible stopleak? Mousemilk for old diaphragms? GoJo fix? Vacuum hoses are not removeable. To replace, cut and remove the old hose, leaving several inches at the rubber block end and attach a new hose with a piece of tubing or double-barbed plastic tubing fitting. Cut to length-plus a little. Rich Barber i do not think that comes apart , if a bad hose maybe use brass tubing pieces to couple new ones , otherwise use as it is . Amazon sells a package of various size brass tubes about a foot long , good to have anyway On this , first never wiggle that block trying to get it off , that breaks off the small plastic nipples Second coat rods of actuators with silicone grease , rubber gets hard where they exit the can , you get a vacuum leak , slow or intermittent action results . Cannot get new stuff , cant open can to fix either. There is a tiny hole in the bottom of vacuum inlet line slows flow . Not sure a good idea but when combined with slight leaks it does not move right Maybe it woukd slam withiut the restriction . -- For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylang --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Chrysler 300 Club International" group.
